The clean slate.

Hello 2013, I'm not sure I've welcomed you.
I mean obviously the fireworks, champagne toast and new years kisses greeted you with a smile a few weeks ago but I haven't properly given you much thought.
Until now. Actually until about a few weeks ago when I got home from the sunshine and finally had a chance to give you some attention. That's when I remembered the clean slate that you gift us with every year, at that moment my energy level soared and I remembered how oh-so good you feel!

The clean slate.
I love that feeling. No clutter or chaos. Just a year of endless possibilities!
Last year's list was quite ambitious and some things may have slipped through the cracks a tiny bit but that's why I'm so thankful for the clean slate and here we are...
Obviously these goals and ambitions differ from before because the "I" has turned into a "we". That's when S and I discussed what we wanted our first year together to look like. What did we hope to accomplish? What did we want to make for certain that we do? And the word that kept coming to the forefront of our minds was, ORGANIZATION, and with that our list was born. So cliché or not they look a little something like this ;

Individual Goals.

Make friends. Sounds sad huh? Being in a new place with very unfamiliar faces has got me thinking. I have a desire to be involved where we are and hopefully to meet some people that I can call friend. However, it's not so easy people. You see I grew up in the same small town, where everybody knows your name (no, really) and with the same amazing friends that I've had for years. So starting from point A again isn't as easy as pie. I want to make a goal to be intentional, to invest in others, get involved and to hopefully meet some wonderful people along the way.

A new adventure. As if this move wasn't enough right? Right! I want to challenge myself to learn something new this year. The possibilities are endless, maybe I'll discover a hidden talent?

The write-a-way. This year I want to be more diligent about writing and make time for this hobby that I love. I've met so many wonderful people through this piece of technology and can't wait to see my paths cross with many others in 2013.

Peace & quiet. This year I want to allot time everyday to slip away and spend some R&R with my Savior. Sadly life gets busy and this gets pushed to the back burner, but when it doesn't I'm blessed and who doesn't want to be blessed? And because well, I love to learn from the all-knowing and want to find out the amazing plans that He has up his sleeve.

Consume water. This was on last years list and by March I was downing 6 bottles a day! By December I was lucky to get one in. I know how healthy this is so it made the cut again.

Togetherness Goals.

Dive in. We want to get involved in the city we live. We want to leave a mark, meet others and serve. This year we want to make sure to start serving in a church, a charity and maybe a civic organization or business group.

Household. Each week we have set a goal to plan our meals for the following week and grocery shop for that week. So far we are 2 for 2! {I'll be posting recipes of this deliciousness soon}. This is both healthier and more friendly to the pocket, because when these eyes go into a grocery store they always get distracted.

Budget. I despise everything about this word. Like strongly. But we need it. So on to our master sheet we prevail in hopes to get our finances in order. I guess if it doesn't fit into the evil budget than it doesn't make it into the shopping bag. {tear}.

Explore. Of course Florida makes the list, but we want to see and explore so many amazing places. On the list this year is a cruise, Sweden, California road trippin' and maybe the always wonderful NYC.

So there ya have it! I can't wait to see what this year has in store.
