Do you ever have those days? You know the ones that make you take a step back and look at the little moments that make up the entirety of one's day? Today was that for me...
The moment when you realize the elderly man strolling along next to you is humming a tune while tapping his cane to his own beat. He was so content in that moment and it seemed as if he had not a care in the world.
The moment when you realize how much you despise bathing suit shopping. I know some most of you are with me? I'm actually not sure I've ever met a woman who gets enjoyment out of that task. From voluptuous to bean poll, I've not met a one.
The moment when you're eyes spy a woman having lunch by herself while texting who's sure to be her 'someone special'. Her radiant smile gave away her story.
The moment when you get butterflies before meeting a new gal pal for lunch. And think who am I? Oh yeah, I'm that girl who loves to socialize yet just isn't used to building a new friendship circle outside of my Plant City comfort zone. It was wonderful though, just like we were long lost friends. ...I'm so thankful for the Lords 'divine appointments'.
The moment when you're watching 'Valentines Day' and realize that your husband totally repeated a line right out of Ashton Kutcher's mouth and used it in the proposal speech. Yep that happened. He had no clue where the quote came from but tonight I discovered it's origins . Lucky for him I love a good cheese ball. Oh and might I add that S's proposal was perfect so I wouldn't have wanted him to replace one single word. Just made for a hilarious moment.
And.. the moment of the day that takes the cake. Not for being the best, but for being the most embarrassing incident in a long, long time...
{I'll have you know - it was early}
The moment when you take a step down on the "up" escalator.
Yep that also happened. It wasn't just a slight misstep either, it was so obvious that the store clerk came and pointed it out. I then proceeded to the neighboring escalator and that too was moving in the upward direction. The same clerk then showed me around the corner to the downward way of transportation. Bless me. That lady probably thinks I'm the most delusional American ever. Hello tourist. I'm sure she's convinced that we don't have those things in the States. You can thank me later for a stereotype of some kind today that was born today. There definitely needs to be a warning sign that cautions something like, "Beware, do not attempt this maneuver until you're morning cup of joe sets in".

These made me smile! So glad to hear your lunch date went well...girlfriends are a blessing! And I'm sorry about the escalator mishap...crazy delusional American tourist? You? Never! Haha.

This was so sweet. The first part made me teary eyed. Sweet old man!! Love that so much!!! It's so sweet to take a step back and see what our lives actually consist of. & your escalator moment is so perfect, made me laugh this morning. I know exactly what you mean though, we do silly things and totally know it's going to be pinned on us being "American" haha, ohhhh welllll! :)
ReplyDeleteUgh YES! Bathing suit shopping is the worst. I always blame everything I don't like about myself on the lighting in the dressing rooms! It always makes me feel better! :) I enjoyed reading this sweet post. I love the little moments that make our days brighter!
